Trilogy Week #4 Arny Week

I recently bought True Lies and Total Recall on dvd. And to my astonishment my brother Jonny had never seen them. I was so amazed that I said, "ok the next movie trilogy will be three Arnold Schwarzenegger movies you haven't seen and you write a review of them. So here is True Lies, Total Recall, and The Running Man.

Leftovers Samich!

What to do with your Thanksgiving Day leftovers. You could just re-heat them in the microwave... or you could make a delicious leftovers sandwich. I make this every year, and it is one of my favorite sandwiches of all time.

Trilogy Week #3 Thanksgiving Movies

So I'm still learning how to do this blog thing, and today I figured out how to do line breaks. this is my first line break wow! so each of these trilogies have a theme that runs through them, if you haven't figured that out yet. the two previous weeks were #1 college movies, and #2 returned veterans movies. So here the first reviews (two of these movies are written by John Hughes, guess which ones) :

Title: Dutch
Year: 1991
Director: Peter Faiman
Cast: Ed O'Neill, Ethan Embry, JoBeth Williams, Christopher McDonald
Rated: PG-13

My Review: Ed O'Neill hasn't been in a lot of movies, and that's a shame. Because the two movies I know he's in, he is hilarious. Which are Wayne's World, and this movie. This movie is a classic road trip movie in my eyes. It's very underrated. To me this was one of those bargain big diamonds, that I love finding. This movie is very similar in tone to Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, but John Hughes does a good job making these movies different. Both funny in their own rights. If you're a John Hughes fan, this is a must see. 7 out of 10

Trilogy Week #2 - The Deer Hunter

Title:  The Deer Hunter
Year: 1978
Director: Michael Cimino
Cast: Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, John Savage, Meryl Streep, John Cazale
Rated: R
My Review: Starts off very slow before the get to Vietnam. the scenes in Vietnam are the most fantastic parts of the movie. But when they get back home it gets slow and boring agian. Very fly on the wall film, which gets old fast. 4 out of 10

Trilogy Week #2 - Born on the Fourth of July

Title: Born of the Fourth of July
Year: 1989
Director: Oliver Stone
Cast: Tom Cruise, Raymond J. Barry, Willem Dafoe
Rated: R

My Review: Oliver Stone loves his symbolism and tries to be known as an artistic director, but when he does it, it seems so obvious and out of place. Tom Cruise does a great job playing the tortured soul. The movie doesn't do a good job showing Tom Cruise's decision to become an activist, it seems to just happen, as if they were running short on time. But it does a good job portraying the post-dramatic stress disorder of returned veterans. 5 out of 10.

Trilogy Week #2 - First Blood

Title: First Blood
Year: 1982
Director: Ted Kotcheff
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Brian Dennehy, Richard Crenna
Rated: R

My Review: This movie is awesome. The action scenes are great. Makes me want to see Rambo take on the predator. This is a must see if you like action movies. The police brutality against Rambo is a little over the top and unbelievable, but when Rambo turns the tables on them it's very satisfying. And Brian Dennehy does a great job as the ignorant jerk sheriff. 9-10. k-bye.
